Mya's Day Out

So, last weekend Mya was driving us both up the wall. Suzanne, being the awesome friend she is, called me up and let me complain to her about it even though she doesn't always get it because she is sans child. In the theme of being an awesome friend she also offered to have Mya go to her house for the day! So, Suzanne came over the night before to sleepover and got up with the little miss the next morning. She got her dressed and combed her hair and fed her breakfast and they were off! They had fun at Meteghan Playground and she had a nice little nap in the afternoon and then it was back home for her. Seeing as it was her first day out and away from us, I asked Suzanne to take pics of their day together (and Suzanne really likes to take pictures so it was kind of win win).

Breakfast time for Mya!

All dressed up and ready to go!

Strapped in!

Hanging out at Suzanne's house (looking impressed about it too by the looks of it!)

Getting a little hair do fix up from Sarah

Hair is done and it's off to the playground!

Fun in the ball tepee! (In my opinion it is a gross idea to go in one of those, but anyways...)

Swing time!

Police officer Mya!

It looks like Mya had a fun day and I think Suzanne was pretty pooped by the end of it. Hopefully she wasn't too scarred though because we might have to ask her to take Mya while we move next weekend! That's right! It's finally upon us. We are moving to our new place in Kentville on Sunday and I can't wait/would rather gouge my own eyes out. Moving day is always a bittersweet day, but it has to be done! I just hope that this place is somewhere we can stay long term until we can afford to buy a house. Maybe by then I'll have had enough of a break between moves that I won't hate it as much. Nah...I think I'll always hate moving.

Anyways, hope everyone had a good weekend!

Apple Cheeks!

So, I'm a cloth diaper user. Well, I guess you could say Mya is a cloth diaper user since she is the one who actually does her business there, but you get the point. I follow a blog (you'll notice it on the right there) called A Reusable Diaper Revolution and said blog is having a giveaway! They are giving away two Orange Zest Little Bundles and I want one! If you want one too, hop on over to Ilana's blog and do one of the things mentioned to get entered (more than one if you want more than one entry!) The contest closes at midnight on September 1st, so hurry up! And if you don't really want one, you should enter anyway and then if you win you could give it to me!

Ok, time to dig into my on sale oreos I bought earlier tonight and watch some Sex and the City!

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I win!

Puddle Jumping

Every year the Festivale Acadien is held in Clare and we went this year and took Mya to see the people, the lumberjack competition, the food, and the parade. We forgot the camera at home though, so we have no pictures of that day and we ended up leaving before the parade anyway. In place of the Festivale, I offer you pictures of the day Adam took Mya outside to play in the rain and jump in the puddles. She got quite a kick out of it and fell in the puddles a few times but wasn't impressed when she had to come back inside because she was told she wasn't allowed to walk up to the neighbour's front door and be loud/scream....at 8:30am. Which isn't early for us but is crazy early to others.
The last picture was taken after she fell down a few times. You might be able to tell by her pants being stuck to her leg.

The other day we went downtown to see what was happening with the Digby Scallop Days festival and Adam picked out a dress for Mya to wear. It was a Sophie Special (her grandpa had bought it for her when they went to Panama) and now Miss Mya gets to wear it. I can remember Sophie wearing this dress to Sheila and Peter's wedding and I just can't believe Sophie was that young when we were there!

Ok, I saved the best for last. Last night when she got out of the tub, I dried her off and let her run around for a bit before putting her diaper on. Whenever she's really quiet it usually means she's doing something she shouldn't be and when we found her this is what she was doing.

I know I've posted pictures of her on the computer before but this time it's just so much better because she's naked. Naked little kid bums always make things better.

Toys and Pies

A couple days ago I was in Yarmouth getting the oil changed in our car and had some time to kill so I made my way over to the good ol' Yarmouth mall. I hadn't been there in YEARS and my oh my was that place dead, but anyways, that's not the point. While wandering around I made my way into the Everything For A Dollar Store (EFADS...lame, I know) and I must say, it kicked Dollarama's ass! For starters, I was able to find empty travel bottles for shampoo and conditioner which I could not find at the Dollarama and I was able to find Miss Mya a broom! I was so pleased when my eyes fell on them. I can't sweep my floors when she's awake because she fights with me over who gets to use the broom and needless to say, when she uses it there isn't much sweeping being done. I had looked for one at Dollarama and couldn't find one and even thought I might be able to find a kid one somewhere (but I kind of hoped I didn't find a kid one because everyone knows that kids are smart and never want to play with the kid version of whatever it is of yours they want). Then, I found regular brooms that look like the one we have only it's smaller! It honestly made my day. That either makes me incredibly sad or easy to please. I also picked up a little care package that Auntie Jessica had sent down with Sam. That meant that when I got home, Mya had lots of new things to play with.

This summer I've been trying out some new recipes and the other day I thought I would try out this one I found in the newspaper. It's a summery pie and it's not as high in calories/fat as other pies because

a) it doesn't have a top shell
b) I used cornstarch and flour to thicken the custard rather than a million eggs
c) I used skim milk rather than whole milk
d) it has lots of fruit in it

The recipe was supposed to only make one pie but during the making of the pie I found out that I somehow had enough custard mixture to make two. Luckily, I had enough fruit to quickly whip up a second one!

It turned out super yummy! I think next I'm going to try making Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. They look sooo good!

Ok, I'm off to upload some pictures to facebook! Ciao for now!
