12 weeks

Twelve weeks have gone by since Henry was born and he's so big now! At 12 weeks he is sleeping through the night, has good head and neck control and seems to enjoy tummy time.

He sucks on his hand a lot of the time and I can't tell if that's because he's still trying to get his thumb or if it's a teething thing.

We still swaddle him at night time and he sleeps on his back which has resulted in a little bald spot. Once we're done with swaddling I think we'll sleep him on his belly cause he sleeps really well like that.

He weighs 14lbs now and eats about every 2 hours. He's a big boy wearing 6+ month clothes already!

He's starting to "talk" and coo which is absolutely adorable. I love it and I talk back to him.

The drooling has begun which means his little teeth are in the process of coming down so we've bought the little guy an amber necklace hoping it'll work.

He LOVES his bath. That and being naked are his two favorite things.

He is a supremely awesome baby and is rarely fussy. He's just awesome.

He likes his car seat once the car starts moving and falls asleep almost every time and he's good to go in the stroller too. Pretty easy to please!

He laughs out loud now when he's tickled or when Adam makes funny voices (he's the best at making him laugh.)

He still sleeps in our room in the moses basket because I haven't been able to cut the cord yet. I can't even use the excuse that it's easier for getting up in the night because he doesn't make me get up in the night...

He really likes his ergo carrier and always falls asleep in it. Even when he's not tired, he likes to be carried around in it so he can see everything.

He is mesmerized by the outdoors! Whenever he's crying and I can't seem to soothe him, I'll walk out the back door onto the deck and he stops crying almost right away.

Happy 12 weeks Henry!

Being Green

I was thinking the other day about all the things we do to be green and to do our part for the environment. It makes me feel happy that we're doing something good for the Earth and that maybe it will help it be a better place for our children and grandchildren. Some of these things include:

-Hanging clothes on the clothesline to dry whenever possible
-Cloth diapering
-Buying local food when possible which means we also eat in season
-Going to Frenchy's for second hand clothes
-Scouring kijiji whenever we need something instead of buying new
-Composting
-Recycling (ok, both recycling and composting are things we're required to do but we'd probably do them anyway even if the law said we didn't have to)
-We only drive one car
-Heating our home with wood instead of electricity
-We're considering planting a vegetable garden as well
-Using reusable dryer balls instead of disposable dryer sheets
-Using biodegradeable laundry detergent

Those are just some of the things that come to mind. What kinds of things do you do to be green?

Mama Mule

This is how I spent my Friday afternoon while Adam was at an inservice:

You might be asking why I was carrying Mya around in the carrier when she is fully capable of walking and weighs 36lbs. That would be because she sliced the tip of her baby toe off on a broken tile in the basement that afternoon and refused to wear a band aid to protect the wound. This in turn made the toe exposed and more likely to get stubbed and bleed again. To keep her happy and feeling seen to, I threw her on my back (a first for me) and got the clothes off the line, folded them, put them away and changed Henry. By that point it was time to let her down. I have no idea how people do it. Mind you, it was probably the most comfortable I could've been with a 3 year old on my back.

The day before that we were in Henry's room going through some of Mya's old clothes that I had set aside when I was pregnant. Guess what we found! Her old leg warmers!!

She insisted on trying on a pair. I told them were too small but part of me thought they were cute and would probably let her wear them out of the house one of these days. I think Henry's chubby wubbies needed to be just a tad bigger and then they'll fit perfect!

New Bangs

Heya! It's Monday and we came home from a weekend in Halifax yesterday. It was nice to get to the city for more than a few hours at a time and the weather cooperated too which made for a perfect mother's day weekend. On Saturday I treated myself to some eyebrow waxing and tinting and a new haircut! I went somewhere new for the brows and lets just say I've had way better. That's why the only pictures I'm sharing of my new bangs are with sunglasses on so you can't see the monstrosity that are my brows. You could say they look a little something like this. Not good. I'm going to do what I can to try and fix the awfulness.

The hair, on the other hand, turned out cute!

Blogger

Blogger has changed its layout and it's making it kind of hard to figure out. Well, I shouldn't say that. It's not that I can't figure out how to post (hence this post) but I tried uploading pictures yesterday of the Princess Tea Party and posting pictures left me stumped. I'll try to get back on the wagon but blogging has fallen to the bottom of the priority list. Sorry!

I'll make it up by posting a cute picture (at least I'm going to try!)

Well, that wasn't so hard!
