1. Our firewood has all been chucked into the basement but it hasn't all been stacked yet. Looks a little overwhelming to me...

2. We had to move the jumperoo up to the next level because Henry was getting too big for the lowest setting. This makes me a little sad.

3. I've started making and freezing baby food. So far I have sweet potato, peas and kale but I'm about to add squash, carrots and broccoli to the freezer. I'd like to get some homemade applesauce in the freezer as well. I wish the apples on our tree in the backyard weren't ant ridden cause then I'd just have to walk out my back door!

4.  I caved tonight and got A&W for supper. For anyone who knows me, this is a big deal. In my opinion fast food is terribly bad for you and I almost think it would be healthier to get some roadkill and cook it yourself. However, I am still human and about once a year or less I will get fast food to satisfy my inner fat girl.

5. Henry is only 4 months old (almost 5!) and I've already planned his outfit for his 1 year old pictures. I hope the clothes still fit him by then!

6. Since summer vacation has started I seem to lose track of the days and the time. It's nice being able to just go with the flow and not know what day of the week it is but at the same time I feel like I'm slowly losing control and my house is a chaotic mess around me. I think September will be bittersweet.

7. Our lawn is so. dry. I think it only needs mowing about once a month and I hate how crunchy it gets. I like lush green grass but don't feel like watering it constantly like the weird lawn guy who lives across the street.

8. This year for Halloween I want to dress the kids up in some sort of matching duo but I can't think of anything. I guess it's good I've thought of this in July so I'll have lots of time to come up with something!

9. Have you read "Shit My Dad Says"? Do it. That is some funny stuff.

10. Mya has her first dentist appt. in August and I hope that she stays excited for it. It helps that the last time we went she had a good experience but this time it will be a real appointment and not just a "the dentist just needs to check I didn't destroy my tooth when I fell on it" appointment.

Play Dough

The other day I was sent this link from some parenting website about 100 indoor activities kids love. While some of them were just plain stupid or not age appropriate at this time, there was one for homemade playdough and I thought that might be just right for Mya. When I brought it up to her I also thought it was a good time since she asked me "what is playdough?". Uh oh. My kid is about to start preschool in the fall and doesn't know what playdough is. How do you explain that? "Umm...it's dough. you play with."

Anyways.

The site with the recipe had pictures of the finished product and it looked awesome and not grainy like the homemade playdoughs of yore. I took on the challenge. We made 4 batches: green, blue, purple and red and it turned out super good. It took Mya all of 2.5 seconds to smoosh them together and mix the colors. Some day soon I'll make yellow and orange and then we'll have all the colors of the rainbow! Yay!

Summer Vacation

And we're back. We hit up PEI for a few days...fewer days than was originally planned but I think it worked out best in the end. We were still able to see and do everything we wanted and Mya had a great time so we're happy to be home 4 days early. Good thing too because the day after we got home, I flared up my SI joint and needed physio. Packing up the camp site wouldn't have been possible and Adam would've had to do the whole thing alone. We had a good time camping despite the downpour, the fire ban and the nightly skunk visits. The kids both slept great and except for the one rainy day we had great weather! I've also realized after looking at our pics that there are a lot of pictures of me breastfeeding. Don't worry though, I won't share those beauties with you.

Sorry for the picture overload! I guess I didn't realize how many pictures we had taken...oh well, good for the memories!

Cape Breton

We got back from our Cape Breton adventure on Thursday and since we've been back it's been a little hectic trying to get ready for our next adventure: camping. Which happens to be tomorrow. We didn't leave ourselves much time between the two but we're borrowing Adam's dad's car and we didn't want to steal it from them for too long. Speaking of camping, does anyone know how much stuff is required to go camping for a week with 2 small kids?? Holy crap! We went from a Corolla to a Sorento and we don't think we'll have enough room. If we have to put stuff on the roof that's going to suck cause we don't have a roof top carrier but we'll make do.

Anyways, back to Cape Breton. We had a great time and had even better weather. It was hot and sunny everyday...just like a vacation should be! Mya slept great and actually asked to go to bed 10 min before bedtime almost every night. Don't worry, it didn't last once we got home. Henry slept so so.

I would post pictures of our trip but I'm writing this post quickly in my little bit of down time between laundry and packing. I'll post some when we get back!

See ya in a week!

1. We went to a wedding on the weekend and left the kids with my parents. Let me just say this: pumping s.u.c.k.s.

2. Adam is officially on summer vacation! Yay! So far, this still makes me happy. It's day 2.

3. I love that my child is still young enough that she believes most of what we tell her. Example: we didn't want to tell her we were going to Sarah's wedding in PEI because a) she LOVES weddings and b) she thinks Sarah's kick ass so I feared there would be a major melt down if she didn't get to go. So, we told her we were going to make sure the campground was ready for us for our camping trip. Yesterday she asked us how the camp site was and if it was indeed ready for us. Win!

4. I think I might be strawberried out and it's only the start of July! Insert sad face.

5. My mother in law is back from her European trip and we're heading up today to maybe score a look at her pictures and get some good stories.

6. ANTS! I've heard that it's just part of living in the valley and that everyone has to deal with them every year once the weather turns warm but frig. We moved into this house a year ago this month and we didn't have to deal with ants last year. Again, frig.

7. I've discovered that the library actually has modern and normal books (I know, I sound blonde). I wanted to borrow Tina Fey's "Bossy Pants" or Ellen Degeneres' "Seriously, I'm Kidding" but our little library system here doesn't comprehend those titles. Halifax does but I don't fully understand their site and I have some kind of hesitation about borrowing a book from a place where I don't live.

8. We're going to Cape Breton next week to hang out with the father in law and co. Can you believe it's been a year since we were there last? I know....last summer was the last time. It's really hard to get all the way up there when we're both working though. You don't want to leave late on a Friday or early on a Saturday just to come home on Sunday.

9. Henry does not like the playpen. It might've just been a one time fluke thing but he went from being a happy, sleeping all night kind of baby to one who wakes up every 2 hours (sometimes it was only 20min after we put him down. yay!) This poses a problem for above mentioned endeavours (ie. camping and Cape Breton). We've considered just taking the crib mattress with us wherever we go but that might just be stupid.

10. Our camping trip is only a week and a half away...lots of planning to do!

And since a blog post is no fun without pictures, here's Adam and Mya cleaning the car and Mya with the marionette Nana and Scott brought her back from their Euro trip.
