10 on Tuesday

1. I think Mya has a bladder infection and I really, really don't feel like taking her to outpatients this morning and missing Henry's nap time.

2. The weather has been so. nice. lately. Laundry has been hung on the line almost everyday! It's about time the snow took a vacation. I was tired of the white stuff.

3. I feel bad when I drop Mya off at preschool and she asks me to stay there with her and I can't. She asks because she's noticed other mothers hanging around either to help out when one of the teachers are out or just because their child wanted their mom to stick around. One of these days when I know someone will be here, I'd like to leave Henry home so I can spend a day at preschool with her.

4. I LOVE the look of my diapers sunning on the line but I hate how they're kind of hard/stiff when I bring them in. I tried extra hard today to not add too much soap and give them a good rinse. I hope that it worked!

5. The kids have been enjoying their swing set but we have yet to get a baby swing (I know...). We need to get on that.

6. We took Henry on his first bike ride the other day and he seemed to like it! It was Mya's first time on a bike this year but thankfully she picked it up quicker than last spring. Still, it was a lot of stop and go rather than ride.

7. Henry got his first nose bleed the other day. He fell on the driveway and scratched up his nose and lips. Poor guy!

8. We're going to get to see Elisa and Marianne's new house on Sunday!

9. We still need to take the winter tires off the car. And it better be a nice long time before they need to be switched again.

10. Mya's been saying she wants bangs but I'm hesitant to take her because of how her last hair cut went.

Chocolate Avocado Mousse

So the other day I came across a recipe for chocolate avocado mousse and immediately thought "that sounds amazing!" One of the biggest perks was that it was dairy free! Yay!

So I whipped it up last night before supper and stuck it in the fridge for dessert. Again, I had to use our tiny mini chopper and do it in three batches (we should probably invest in a proper food processor). It turned out really good and luckily we had strawberries and bananas on hand so we cut them up for dipping since it seemed odd to eat it straight up. It tasted just like when you have a chocolate fondue and I ended up eating what was left of mine after dipping and I got a tummy ache. I think it's too rich to eat either just on its own or in larger quantities. Even though I got a stomach ache, I felt good knowing that all I was eating was avocado, cocoa, honey and some coconut milk. All good stuff! The kids and the hubs liked it too so I wonder how long the leftovers in the fridge will last....

Banana Ice Cream

The title of this post would suggest that it's about ice cream made with bananas but it's about ice cream made of bananas. We've recently decided that it would be best if our whole family went dairy free. Me and Henry were already dairy free and Mya still hadn't seemed to outgrow her issues with it so we've taken her off dairy too and her skin has cleared right up! Adam found this recipe for banana ice cream and we thought we'd give it a whirl since we had a bunch of bananas lying around and it's been a really long time since I've had ice cream. The comments seem promising and I'm hoping it works out since we'll be using a blender instead of a food processor.

Verdict: It turned out amazing! The blender ended up being useless so we ended up using our mini chopper which is like a mini food processor. It just meant we had to do it in 3 or 4 small batches as opposed to all at once. It was a hit with each of us and Mya even said "it tastes just like ice cream!" We're considering trying it again sometime but adding new flavors like peanut butter or strawberries. Yum!

Please don't let the crappy photo fool you. It really was yummy but I only thought to take a picture of the left overs after I had returned them to the freezer...so it looks less appetizing than when it's fresh.

Banana ice cream for the win!

I'll Blow You A Hug

Mya is already getting stingy with her snuggles. I thought this wouldn't happen until she was closer to 12 years old and became too cool for me. This morning I asked for a hug and instead of interrupting her play, she said she could give me a hug even though she was "way over here" and proceeded to "hug" me by wrapping her arms around an invisible person. I told her that wasn't a very good hug and to get over here and give me a real one. She said she'd blow me a hug and then continued down the stairs to her ever more important babies. Sigh, and it has begun.

Swing Dance!

So, after our help bailed on us me and Adam decided it was better that we assemble the swing set ourselves. We started on Saturday afternoon and didn't stop until the kids went to bed tonight. Now, there were lots of breaks involved: boob breaks, nap time breaks, lunch and supper breaks, you know, the usual. But it's officially done! Check it out! I'm proud of us.

Doesn't it look good? I think it'll look better in the day time. Mya will be so excited that it's finally finished except that the weather man is calling for rain every. single. day. this. week. Literally. Not cool. Oh well, she's quite fond of her new rubber boots so she'll get her fill this week!

Not bad, eh?
